THE TECHNOLOGICAL TIPPING POINT (TTT)

Unlike animals, humans are technical beings. Our culture, beliefs, and way of life have all been affected and modeled by different advancements that have occurred throughout history. Technology has turned the world into a global experience, and it has become a primary driving force behind the development of new mobile, flexible, collaborative work practices and office design trends. By accident technical progress doesn’t happen. It owes a great deal to our forebears and their achievements, and knowledge transmission to the next generation allows human culture to continue to progress without having to start from scratch every time. The process accelerates, as time goes on. Technology progressed in a linear and regionalized manner. In recent years, however, knowledge has expanded globally and exponentially. The world has become a more connected place, and innovation has accelerated at a high speed, transforming our lives in new technologies and lifestyles.

In just a few months, the COVID-19 crisis has ushered in years of change in the way firms in all sectors and region’s function. Companies have reduced the time it takes to digitize their customer and supply-chain relationships, as well as their internal activities, by three to four years. In addition, the share of digital or digitally enabled products in their portfolios has increased by seven years. Companies have put in place at least interim solutions to fulfil many of the increased demands placed on them, and they did so far faster than they anticipated before the crisis. To stay competitive in this new commercial and economic environment, you must modify your tactics and strategies.

Technology's strategic function should be viewed as a critical component of a company's operations, not just as a cost-cutting tool.

TECHNOLOGY and Its Effect on CULTURE AND WORK

Every aspect of life, including the job, has been affected by technological advancements. Because we can access the internet from a variety of mobile devices, we can work from anywhere and at any time. Users may access apps, data, and corporate services from any location with an internet connection thanks to the cloud, recasting work as a mobile and flexible activity. We no longer need to be bound to a desk to complete our daily tasks because work may now join us wherever we go. The traditional idea of the office as a place where we sit for eight hours a day is giving way to a more flexible and dynamic model that allows for a variety of communication and collaboration options. Workers have more control over their jobs wherever they are because of the technological advances in these new work environments, which include anything from checking email and editing papers to getting real-time information on workspace occupancy and meeting room availability. People have control over the office's temperature and lighting, as well as videoconferencing and audio-visual equipment. As technology becomes more widely available, a new trend has emerged: technology consumerization. New technologies are more likely to appear in the consumer sector before making their way into the workplace, meaning that the average employee has better technology at home than at work. As new digital technologies advance, businesses must understand the five key factors that are responsible for the construction of a new technological future.

• The search for AI-assisted intelligent systems

• The requirement for more effective human-machine interfaces

• The growth of interconnected systems

• The need for improved communication technology

  • The arrival of Quantum technologies.

GEN y and Z

Generation Y (or millennials) and generation Z (or centennials) are predicted to account for 60% of the global workforce by 2020. As a result of technological developments and the admission of these new workers, change in the workplace has begun to materialize, and as millennials advance in their careers, this tendency will increase. Young people who have been exposed to technology since childhood have very different desires and ambitions than their predecessors. As a result, businesses will have to reconsider how they manage their workforce. To fulfil the requirements of a population that will eventually account for more than half of the world's active population, workplaces, human resource policies, and leadership styles must develop.

One of the traits that divide millennials and centennials is that technology will be crucial in boosting productivity, expediting jobs, aid projects, and organizing social activities in current working environments. Organizations must employ technology to meet the needs of new generations, find innovative ways to execute daily tasks, and stay connected.

CONCLUSION

Amid the COVID-19 challenge, the concept of technology adoption at a high rate isn't new. It is a historic tipping point that will need even more adjustments as the economic and human situation evolves. Some key lessons can be derived from the steps that firms have already taken. One is the importance of learning, both tactically and organizationally, in the process of implementing certain organizational. Because the rate of change is unlikely to slow down in the future, both types of learning will be necessary.

Technological capabilities stand out as crucial success factors during the crisis. The most significant differences between successful organizations and all others are talent, the application of cutting-edge technologies, and a number of other traits. In today's digital age, artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) are merging to make products and enterprises smarter, more responsive, and linked. Organizations must take care when implementing new technologies soon or late. Business executives must know when to examine and accept new technologies in order for the necessary investments to provide the best returns and competitive advantage in order to stay ahead of the competition.

Businesses must execute three important projects to keep ahead of the technology curve:

· Newer technologies that have been identified as having a strategic impact on the business

· Pilot programs suited for adolescent, early mainstream technologies, regardless of their impact on the business

·       Adoption programs that will assist them in integrating relevant technologies into their business processes

Can Mars be Our Next Home?

Introduction

In the year 1610, on an astronomical day, Galileo Galilei’s curiosity was being fed by his scrupulous telescope. He had discovered a planet. Red, as it appeared but at a distance of 54.6 million kilometers from earth, was Mars. Famously known as the red planet, Mars is the 4th planet in our solar system and is the second smallest planet overall. It is said to have two moons namely called Phobos and Deimos, both moons were discovered by an American astronomer Asaph Hall in the year 1877. According to Greek mythology, Mars was the god of war and an agricultural guardian, and in various cultures, it is considered to represent masculinity and youth.

It is said that in 2003 mars came so close to earth that it was visible to the naked eye and it is such a rare event that occurs once or twice every 60,000 years. Every 15 to 17 years Mars comes close to the earth and can be viewed by a telescope for a great view.  Scientists believe that life on mars is possible, from the past two centuries few scientists believed that they had sighted straight canals which meant the possibility of civilization but were proven wrong as it was mistaken for some geological evidence.

In the year 2003, NASA launched two rovers on Mars for research purposes, the rovers found evidence of the presence of water on the planet. A few years later more rangers were sent on mars which confirmed the presence of water.

Due to meteor showers, many martian rocks have fallen on the earth's surface allowing the scientists to study the planet better without leaving earth. One specific rock called ALH84001 was found to be containing a tiny piece of fossil in it, proving life on mars, but other researchers are dubious about it and the debate is still ongoing.

 NASA’s Mars rover named Curiosity

Here are some amazing facts about Mars

Due to its distance from the sun, one year on Mars is 687 days and a day on the planet is 24 hours and 40 minutes long. Both earth and mars have the same day length but Mars takes 24 hours and 40 minutes to rotate around its axis in comparison to our home planet which takes 24 hours.

NASA says that Mars' atmosphere contains 95.32% of carbon dioxide, 2.7% of nitrogen, 1.6% of argon, 0.13% oxygen, carbon monoxide and some other chemicals.

Mars is said to have lost its global magnetic field about four billion years ago, yet some regions on the planet are 10 times stronger than anything on earth.

Mars has a mountain named Olympus Mons which is three times as tall as Mount Everest.

PROS and CONS of going to Mars

PRO

To our closest global neighbors, Mars is the best way to colonize. Venus and Mercury are found to be very hot and the Moon lacks an atmosphere which means people can tolerate the deadly bombings from the meteors. It's not fun!

History has proven that life on Earth is not guaranteed. We could look at the extinction of dinosaurs to understand that to secure human progress, we must become a ‘multi-planet species.

People on Mars can find objects much faster than robots. One of the key findings will be used to determine whether life exists on Mars or not. Further exploration of rocks, soil, and key features of Mars may help us to learn more about the lifestyle of the red planet and more insight into our planet.

People who live on Mars for a long time will have to make a living and look for special human settlements, grow their food, use solar energy and establish reliable water sources, just to get started. Developing these types of systems on Mars will translate into better technology here on Earth. New technologies, especially for ways of conserving water and maintaining efficient solar energy, are attainable.

The people who will live on Mars, without a doubt, will have robots and rovers that will help them in their search for a haven on this planet. Advances in robots and automatic navigation will be very complex and skewed in our daily lives here on Earth. To name just a few, we can see significant improvements in sensory energy in self-driving cars, perhaps nanobots working within our bodies, future medical techniques, and major advances in all forms of communication.

CONS

Mars is 54.6 million miles away and even though a spacecraft can travel more than 20,000 km / h, it will still take around eight or nine months, depending on where Earth and Mars are located to get there. Comparing this with a flight to the Moon will take only about three days.

It does not mean that it is perilous to send people to Mars. There are many things that might go wrong. People may freeze to death, starve, lose oxygen or be exposed to dangerous radiation, not to forget the catastrophic global storms which hit Mars for weeks together. Then there are possible mechanical failures of the rockets during the flight, crash crash, holes in the oxygen tanks, the list goes on!

It is an expensive job! The estimated cost of sending people to Mars is around $ 500 million. Although some analysts believe it could be more!

The connection between Earth and Mars can be very ‘long-winded’ negotiations, as the delay is between 7 and 24 minutes, depending on Earth's position in relation to Mars.

Conclusion

Mars is a place to explore because it is close to our Solar System, but there are many more reasons to explore the Red Planet. The scientific reasons for going to Mars can be summed up in a quest for life, understanding the surface and evolution of the planet, and preparing for future human exploration.

Is spending money on Space Travel Extravagant?

The exploration into space was initially performed only by countries with wealth and power, but the billionaires changed the trend, many multi-billion companies took the trend in hand as a status symbol to have their name in space, these new space players began to challenge the government-created monopoly. When it comes to prioritizing space programs, private entities and the government have opposing viewpoints. Different aspects of space programs are prioritized by the government that is in the public interest, such as Earth sciences and national security, whereas wealthy individuals who enter the space sector are interested in personal and financial ventures involving space exploration, such as Elon Musk's plan to make life multi-planetary and Richard Branson's and Dennis Tito's space tourism.

Let's be honest: space exploration isn't cheap! Even a single robotic expedition to space costs millions of dollars, and sending astronauts into orbit takes billions of dollars. If you want to send explorers to even the closest celestial bodies, the expenditures are likely to be extremely expensive. However, there are numerous advantages to exploring space.

Below are some ideas to share when stepping up into space.

Many countries invest as a balanced part of their entire government budget in space science and exploration as a balanced part of their total federal budget. People believe NASA consumes up to a quarter of the US government budget, whereas NASA's budget is only approximately 0.5% of the total federal budget, and the proportion is significantly smaller for other spacefaring nations, according to the public opinion.

In recent decades, wealthy people's investments have boosted private markets and cleared the path for one of the many new businesses to enter the industry. An explosion of proposed satellite constellations and small launch vehicle concepts as a result of new players joining the commercial space industry and because of which access to space became cheaper.

If one is claiming that public funding should be used to solve global problems, one should be aware that money spent on NASA benefits the economy. Spending on space keeps highly skilled jobs alive, fosters scientific advancements with real-world applications, and creates economic opportunities. As a result, the pool of public funds available to address the world's most critical issues expands.

The Department of Space (DoS) has been given Rs 13,949.09 crore in the Indian Budget 2021-22, with Rs 8,228 crore intended for capital expenditure and Rs 700 crore designated for the New Space India Limited (NSIL), a newly constituted public sector organization within the Department of Space. This is almost Rs 900 crore more than the budget for the fiscal year 2019-20, and Rs 4,449 crore more than the budget for the fiscal year 2020-21. The Department of State was allocated Rs 13,479.47 crore in the previous budget, but this was eventually reduced to Rs 9,500 crore. The Department of Space has been given Rs 13,017.61 crore for the fiscal year 2019-20.

People create discoveries that can aid the world in various ways when they face the challenges of space travel. Food growth research in space or on Mars provides insights into food development under harsh conditions on Earth and helps to prevent climate change's effects. Medical research onboard to the International Space Station enables us to get a better understanding of the human body, save lives, and improve quality of life.

A fleet of satellites that orbit the Earth, in particular, send information to satellite navigation systems, broadcast television programs, and monitor weather, is part of a global space network. These are everyday services that we take for granted and are considered as "space exploration."

Further, what if an asteroid strikes the Earth? Social and environmental progress won't help us. We need to explore space, find and study celestial bodies, asteroids and comets to defend our planet from other objects that head our way. It is undeniable that many important human problems need to be resolved. However, addressing these issues does not mean that we must stop investigating, researching, or discovering.

Human civilization has amazing abilities and can do multiple important things at once. If someone thinks a particular topic needs more attention and investment, they can and should advocate it. The problems we face are not limited to space exploration and spending some money on exploration. Talking about civilization, we have already overused Planet Earth which in turn is a necessity to look out for a newer environment to prepare for a new life. We could see crises in water, temperature, air, land, and everything that is beneficial for humans. Every month brings a new set of issues or damage caused by nature; we can’t blame humans alone for the damage but it is the phase of nature to bring that to the table. From the establishment of NASA, space exploration was done to earn fame for the nation, but that will not be a reason anymore, it has turned out to be a must-needed one to find a home in space.

Space exploration isn't cheap, but on the other hand, it is definitely not a waste of money to invest.

The Benefits and Hazards of Genetically Modified Children

Before dwelling on this topic let us understand what is genetically modified children. Although the term is quite self-explanatory,
genetically modified children are also known as Designer babies, which are those whose genetic makeup has been selected or altered, often to include a particular gene or to remove genes associated with a health condition. This process usually involves analyzing a wide range of human embryos to identify genes associated with particular diseases and characteristics, and selecting embryos that have the desired genetic makeup. And although you might be introduced to this topic as you are reading this blog, the first designer baby was born to the Nash family from Denver, Colorado, 20 years ago. but the news is still a miracle to many. Adam Nash was conceived for his stem cells from the umbilical cord, which was later used for the life-saving treatment for his sister suffering from Fanconi's Anaemia.

Now that we know what genetically modified babies or designer babies are while writing this article we were put in a conundrum of whether to explain this topic keeping the benefits side heavy or the hazards of the technology in mind.

Even though there are significant ethical and moral concerns regarding genetically modifying babies, there are numerous benefits to this form of treatment like:-

1.     It will contribute to an increase in life expectancy -The infant will grow up healthier if the defective genes in an unborn baby are edited out and only the healthy genes are kept. As a result, you may be able to extend their lifespan by up to 30 years.

2.     Making a lifestyle change earlier - By introducing diverse factors to the child's thinking and life, you may be able to impact it. Rather than influencing a child later in life, creating a baby may enable you to produce comparable types of influences even before the infant is born. You can, for example, increase your baby's mental capacities before he or she is born, rather than pressuring him or her to study hard and do well in school.

3. It lowers the risk of genetic abnormalities - When you employ genetic modification technology to create a designer baby, you can help to lessen the risk of your child developing numerous genetic illnesses. In many cases, these are not just a strategy to lower your baby's risk of developing certain health problems, but they are also a way to improve your baby's odds of surviving

4. Parents have the last say - As a parent, you have the power to decide what aspects of your child's life you wish to improve. You will be able to set all the boundaries and keep track of all of the alterations your baby will through, as well as how much of the same you want to be done.

But we also found three major issues with Designer babies which were very alarming as they had to do with deciding the course of a life that hasn’t been born yet and could not be taken lightly which were:-

1. Not without flaws

The technique of genetic alteration to generate designer babies is still in its early stages of development, and it will take time and research to advance. Because genetics isn't always 100 per cent accurate, it's extremely conceivable that in the case of designer babies, an error will arise at some point in the future. Researchers are concerned that while they will do everything possible to eliminate any illness in the infant while editing the genes, an unintentional error could result in the emergence of a new type of ailment that they will not be able to treat Depending on their motives for having the kid in the first place, the parents have even gone ahead and terminated the baby in some situations.

2. Infringement on Your Baby's Rights

When you start the process of making a designer baby, you are effectively changing the life and mentality of a living human being without their permission or consent. In this situation, you will permanently alter your baby's mental, emotional, and physical makeup, without giving your newborn a choice in whether or not this is something he or she wants. It is a procedure in which your baby will be treated as a scientific experiment rather than as a human being.

3. Has the potential to create a significant societal divide.

If more parents opt for designer babies, the world will soon be separated into two categories of babies: designer babies and non-designer babies. As a result, newborns born as part of the designer baby series will feel superior to those born naturally without any genetic alteration. Those who adhere to societal norms fear that it will eventually lead to a hostile atmosphere.

Operation Management in Technology Domain

 What Is Operations Management?

Operations management in technology mainly deals in planning, organizing, directing within the context of production of goods and supply of services. It is such that, it focuses on delivery, ensuring that a corporation or business success in an efficient manner turns inputs to output. The inputs can be materials, equipment required, and technology to human resources (HR) like staff and workers. Operation Management mainly deals in optimizing the company resources by minimizing cost and maximizing outputs.

There are certain skills required by an operation manager which include duties or specialized knowledge on acquiring goods and services from external sources when required, managing the relationship inside and outside the organization, to improve the company’s overall health by effectively handling and allocating resources at the right time and place.

There is a crucial need to have a balance between the talent needed for effective operational management and the human resources needed in logistics and supply chain providers. An operation manager's job is to identify the need and successfully enhance efficiency and productivity.

Any manager must be eager to understand the series of processes within an organization should make sure that it runs lucidly and all of this is directly related to supplying chain management. Also, this proper coordination with these processes in practice represents logistics; it is the amalgamation of understanding and coordinating the work of a corporation and any manager following it are in way of becoming a successful operation manager.

What do task the board include?

In the light of its multidisciplinary nature the task of board maybe sometimes misunderstood. Be that because it may, its capacities structure the lynchpin of organizations the planet over, and achievement can frequently lay decisively on its shoulders. The MBA in activities the executives may be a typical specialization among driving business colleges round the world. Anyway, what are the tasks of the executives, and what makes an honest activities chief? Tasks the board is especially worried about arranging, checking out, and regulating with regards to creation, producing, or the arrangement of administrations. All things considered, it's conveyance-centered, guaranteeing that an association effectively productively goes contributions to yields. The sources of information themselves could address anything from materials, hardware, and innovation to HR like staff or laborers. Instances of the kinds of obligations or expert positions this incorporates are acquirement (obtaining labour and products from outside sources), overseeing relations with those related to measures, and dealing on an organization's maintainability on their utilization of assets.

Instances of the kinds of obligations or expert positions this incorporates are acquisition (securing labour and products from outer sources), overseeing relations with those engaged with measures, and working on an organization's maintainability concerning their utilization of assets.

Two key terms can assist with addressing the subject of what activities the board is all the more unequivocally: store network the executives and coordination’s. Tasks the executives have firm establishments in the two regions. For instance, understanding worldwide patterns in inventory networks the executives to fulfil customer needs is regularly basic. With coordination the cautious and thought about the utilization of assets, just as cost-adequacy, has become progressively significant in a period where assets can regularly be hard to come by and client assumptions have soared.

Abilities expected of a task’s administrator-

There are solid equals between the abilities needed for successful activities on the board and those required in the two coordination’s and store network the executives. Fantastic hierarchical capacity is significant in effectively upgrading proficiency and driving usefulness as an activity’s director.

One should have the option to comprehend the series of cycles inside an organization to get them to stream consistently, and in this sense, the job is straightforwardly identified with the production network the board. In the meantime, the coordination associated with setting up these cycles practically speaking addresses coordination; the blend of understanding and planning crafted by an organization are key to turning into a fruitful task’s chief.

The MBA in tasks the executives-

An MBA in tasks the executives or a specialization in a connected field, for example, coordination’s or store network the board, should assist understudies with entering the business by fostering the essential range of abilities or to help those all around in the business to augment their insight and push on into a business position of authority.

Concentrating on an MBA in tasks the executives regularly offer a worldwide point of view on industry patterns and attention to any monetary guidelines or political vulnerabilities that could affect an association. Hazard the executives, having the chance to grasps the business' innate intricacies and reacting great to change will be a solid thought for understudies during their course.

Underscoring the significance of key reasoning is additionally a foundation of many driving tasks of the board programs, something that should empower graduates to guarantee their association remains in front of its opposition.

Connections to production network the executives featured by course choices

MIT Sloan offers a double degree with its designing school, featuring its interrelations with different disciplines. Toward the finish of two years, graduates leave the Leaders for Global Operations (LGO) program with both an MBA and an MSc. The course has an abundance of organization accomplices in the field of worldwide activities and assembling who host plant visits and give freedoms to the program's half-year entry-level position section. Without a doubt, 61 percent of 2018 understudies secured their post-graduate positions through the LGO organization, from a rundown including Boeing and American Industrial Partners (AIP).

The UK's Cass Business School, in the meantime, offers a particular expert in Global Supply Chain Management (GSCM). The one-year course puts tasks the executives close experiences into key inventory network, worldwide acquirement, business maintainability, and money.

Contextualizing the job of the activity’s director-

The tasks chief can rise above ventures so accurate occupation capacities can shift depending on the organization you work for. At the base level, the two standards a tasks director may have a place with can be decreased to organizations with a fixation on assembling and creation, or those that offer types of assistance.

Tasks the executive's jobs inside say a drug organization falls under the classification of creation. Arranging and planning the utilization of assets to guarantee items are planned, made, and dispatched to emergency clinics, scientific experts, etc, guarantee that these items are ready, yet additionally that they are accessible to clients.

In the meantime, an aircraft organization will regularly see the tasks supervisor centre around administrations – shipping traveller’s or potentially freight starting with one spot then onto the next.

Moreover, almost certainly, an assembling centre around the conveyance of an unmistakable item will include less immediate contact with clients than an administrations job.

Notwithstanding, truly most organizations won't fit effectively into one classification or the other in the aggregate of their tasks. A vehicle organization doesn't just fabricate vehicles, it likewise benefits them. A bistro serving espresso may effectively likewise deliver their espresso. There are additionally what is known as semi assembling associations, which appear to be more similar to assembling firms, however, are offering support, for example, a robotized stockroom dispatching products.

The more one examination the subject of what tasks the executives are, the more one perceives how necessary the position can be to some random organization, be it little or enormous. There can be solid cross-over with store network the board, coordination’s or designing, yet there are numerous different ventures and regions where tasks capacities and the abilities of a viable activity’s supervisor are firmly attached to an association's enduring achievement.

Google Project Loon

Google is famous to get high-speed Internet connectivity to the masses and for its high-tech endeavors on many projects

One such project Google is working on is Project Loon. It is appropriately named Loon because it involves balloons. Google has developed this innovative project to solve the global problem that the internet network is still out of reach for one-third of the population. The balloons are placed in the stratosphere cautiously by adjusting their altitude to around 20 km, twice as high as the weather changes, and the airplane flights create an aerial wireless network.

There are many places where Internet service is not in existence or the people living there can’t afford what is available. The Internet network has changed the mode we communicate, run businesses, learn, govern and exchange ideas.

Despite the increase in the number of people using the internet from 2.2 billion in 2011 to 3.2 billion in 2015, around 4 billion people do not have access to the Internet network.

According to Google, each balloon provides an internet connection that covers the balloon and an area of about 25 miles (40 km) in diameter simultaneously. Since the beginning of the project, the Loon team has also increased the data speed by ten times so that they expect the coverage to be comparable to the rate of a typical 4G LTE network. Mike Cassidy, the head of Project Loon, stated that his balloon network covers up to 5,000 square km (1,931 square miles) on the ground and provides services at 15 megabits per second on the phone.

Loon design

The three main components in Loon design are

  1. Envelope: This is designed to be resistant to exposure to UV rays and is the inflatable part of the balloon It is capable of controlling extreme temperature swings as low as – 800 C. The balloon is brought down safely with the help of the parachute attached to the top of the envelope.

  1. Solar Panels: Are mounted at a steep angle that effectively captures sunlight that provides power to its own electronics. The solar panels produce maximum power in full sun and stores the remaining in a rechargeable battery.

3.     Electronics: A small electronics box is, placed below the inflated envelop. This box contains the following:

·       Circuit boards to control the systems

·       Radio antenna for communication

·       GPS for tracking location

·       Sensors to record weather conditions and monitor them

·       Lithium-ion batteries to store solar power

Launching the balloons that have never existed before created a problem for the team, but later they worked on it and made it possible. There are two chambers of the balloon, the inner one consists of air, and the outer one consists of helium. The balloon goes down if there is air in the inner balloon that increases the mass, and by releasing the air, it goes up. Previously many balloons burst or didn’t stay up very long. So, the google team designed and custom-built auto launchers like large cranes capable of filling the balloons every 30 minutes into the stratosphere. With these changes, the balloons withstand at least more than 100 days in the stratosphere.

Subscriber-to-ISP:

·       First, a dedicated Internet antenna on the ground sends a signal to the balloon network, then sends the signal from the balloon to adjacent balloons.

·       The signal from the balloon arrives at a ground station connected to a local Internet provider or a pre-existing Internet infrastructure that provides services through the balloon network.

ISP-to-Subscriber:

·       The pre-existing internet service provider or internet infrastructure sends the response back to the balloon, further transmitted over the balloon network.

·       In the end, the balloon closest to the subscriber receives the data and sends it back to the subscriber.

Google wants to build a network without borders. The biggest obstacle is not technology, but some countries are not permitting this project. In addition to the license, Google should also negotiate with those countries to purchase or borrow specific radio frequencies.

Pros:

  • The most obvious benefit of this project is that Google will provide the Internet network for free.
  • It may increase global Internet usage
  • The ground antenna is easy to use and install
  • No additional underground infrastructure is needed. The equipment is relatively cheap.

Cons:

  • This project is labor-intensive and provides limited Internet speed
  • The balloon can only work for 100 days
  • The main problem is that the hardware failure cannot reach the expected location
  • If the Loon balloon fails, it may continue to float in mid-air or land in an unwanted area, such as the sea
  • These scenarios are crucial for the stability and safety of the personnel

Getting everyone on the planet online will also benefit Google, which relies heavily on revenue from online advertising and services. Similarly, the company will receive payment for access to the Loon network.

Competition

Facebook’s Drones is an idea that competes with Google Loon. Compared with balloons, each drone provides 4,444 larger coverage areas, higher Internet speed, and can stay in the air for several years (about five years). But it requires expensive equipment, so when it fails and falls from the sky, it may cause extreme damage. The main problems with the use of drones are data security and privacy.

Loon is handing over connectivity to groups where the communications infrastructure has been broken or wiped out. In 2017, Loon partnered with Telefonica to offer primary net connectivity to a broad spectrum of people throughout Peru.

The Loon crew additionally labored carefully with AT&T and T-Mobile to deliver the net to

more than 20,000 human beings in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria created natural calamities. In 2020, Loon started handing over the business carrier in Africa.

Conclusion

Ø  Project Loon helps and guides the farmers about important weather data whose harvests are affected by droughts.

Ø  Floods, diseases, famine, illiteracy could be dealt with swiftly with this project.

Ø  The materials used in this project are affordable and are advantageous to connect with the world.

Ø  Google launches approximately 70,000 weather balloons every year.

Ø  Nearly more than 50% of the comments are in favor of this project. In the future, we hope that these balloons could become an option for connecting underserved, remote, and rural areas that help with communications after natural disasters.

Ø  OUTERNET WILL SOON REPLACE THE INTERNET
